A little over 6 months after the deadly crash that claimed over 150 lives, Dana Air has resumed flying domestic flights.
The FAAN had initially grounded operations of Dana air after the plane crash on June 3rd 2012. Today the airline made its first flight since that incident, flying from Lagos to Abuja.
On board the inaugural flight, board government officials from regulatory agencies such as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and entertainers such as Basket Mouth, Denrele, Karen Igho of Big Brother Africa fame, Durela, Buchi and Bovi.
The NCAA in December reinstated the Air Operators Certificate to Dana Air after the airline had completed the necessary re-certification processes.
There is still however distrust in the hearts of Nigerias as there are still questions as to whether a proper investigation was done, and details of the actual cause of the plane crash are still very sketchy. In addition, families of the victims of the plane crash some of whom are yet to be compensated claim the airline has been unfair to them, and not treated the case properly.
