Former National Security Adviser, General Owoye Andrew Azazi, who died in a helicopter crash in his home state of Bayelsa 15 December, along with Kaduna former governor, Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa and four others, will be buried 30 December, according to a programme released last night.
A service of songs will hold at 5 p.m. on Friday 28 December at the Peace Park, in Yenagoa, while a commendation service would hold at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, at the Peace Park, in Yenagoa, before his final interment.
Governor Seriake Dickson who described Azazi as an Ijaw hero, said the state would accord him a ‘befitting burial’.
“The late Gen. Azazi will be given a befitting burial, in recognition of his enviable record of service to the state and the country,’’ Dickson said in the statement signed by his chief press secretary, Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson.
The statement quoted Dickson as saying that late General Azazi’s remains would be laid to rest at the Ijaw National Heroes Park in Yenagoa.
“This is to clearly demonstrate our respect and high regards for Gen. Owoye Azazi, as a true hero of the Ijaw nation,’’.
